Deposits per Time Slot
Charge a deposit only when it's worth it — not on a quiet Tuesday lunch
Reservation.Tools lets you attach deposit rules to individual time slots inside your working hours. Pick the shift — Friday dinner, Saturday night, New Year's Eve, a sold-out DJ set at the beach — and require a deposit on that slot only.
Every rule has its own amount, mode, and cancellation deadline. Charge a fixed 20 EUR to hold any table on Saturday night, or 15 EUR per person for parties of 6 or more at a tasting menu. Different areas of the venue can charge different amounts — the terrace on a summer weekend is not the indoor room on a Wednesday.
When a guest books a slot with a deposit rule, the booking form collects the payment through Stripe or MyPOS before confirming the reservation. If the card is declined or the guest abandons the form, no reservation is created. The table stays free for someone who will actually pay.
You get the money upfront for the shifts that fill up, without adding friction to the ones that don't. Quiet weekday lunches stay as easy as they are today.
Key benefits
Deposits only on the slots that need them
Friday night and New Year's Eve require payment. Tuesday lunch doesn't. You decide per slot, not per venue.
Fixed amount or per person
Charge a flat deposit to hold any table, or charge per guest on large parties. Mode is set per rule.
Different amounts per area
Terrace on a Saturday night can cost more to hold than the indoor room. Set a different amount per area on the same rule.
Cancellation deadline you control
Set how long before the reservation the deposit can be refunded. After the deadline the deposit is kept if the guest cancels.
Fewer speculative bookings
Guests who book three restaurants 'just in case' stop doing it when one of them asks for 20 EUR upfront.
How it works
- 01
Open the slot rule scheduler
From the operator app, go to the venue's working hours and open the slot rules for the shift you want to protect.
- 02
Add a deposit rule
Choose deposit type, set amount, pick fixed or per-person mode, and set the cancellation deadline in minutes.
- 03
Optionally set per-area amounts
If the venue has separate areas (terrace, indoor, private room), assign a different amount to each. Useful for high-demand seating.
- 04
Guest books and pays
When the slot is booked, the form charges the deposit via Stripe or MyPOS. The reservation is created only once the payment clears.
- 05
Deposit is kept or refunded per the rule
If the guest cancels inside the deadline, the deposit is returned. After the deadline, it's kept. The booking either completes or you're compensated for the lost cover.
Stop giving away Friday-night tables for free
Require a deposit only on the slots that fill up. Keep quiet shifts frictionless.
